14 Scuba Diving Centers in Bali That Helped Me Conquer the Deep
When I was younger, I had thalassophobia or fear of deep water. And before anyone asks, it’s different from aquaphobia—I was teased about being scared of water or taking baths—I was not! I’d just freak out whenever my mom said we were going to the beach.
The thought of swimming in the ocean, when we haven’t explored over 80% of it, used to be unthinkable. But 5 years ago, I finally decided to face my biggest fear before getting married—and having a son. I figured I needed to be strong and set an example.
So I asked my water-loving friends to join me at a scuba diving center in Bali. They were surprised but happy to help. It was tough, but I got distracted when I saw all the lovely marine life I’d been missing out on! Here are the top dive shops we’ve been to so far.
Where can I go scuba diving in Bali?
There are a bunch of spots where you can go scuba diving in Bali! Explore notable dive shops, like S.E.A. Diving Bali, Tulamben Dive, Nusa Dua Dive Centre, Adventure Divers Bali, and Nico Dives Cool Bali for a fun underwater adventure!

There are about 15 unique diving locations in Tulamben, but we like that the divers can explore as many as they want. Apart from the shipwreck, its other featured dive sites are the Coral Garden, Batu Kelebit, and Melasti—worth exploring too, in our opinion.
| Our recommendation: Need help with accommodations? Consider staying at Tulamben Dive’s villa—it’s only 400 meters from the beach and the main road to Tulamben! If you’re coming with a big crew, you may also rent 2 double rooms or the entire villa for 6 persons upon request. |

We recently dove with Wonder Dive Bali, and it was an experience that reminded us why we love exploring the ocean in the first place. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel completely at ease—welcoming, professional, and clearly passionate about diving. They took the time to understand our experience levels and tailored everything to match our comfort, which immediately built our confidence before even getting in the water.
Safety was a top priority throughout, and it showed in the small details: well-maintained gear, clear briefings, and a calm, organized approach that never felt rushed. Our dive master was both patient and engaging, pointing out incredible marine life we might have missed on our own and sharing knowledge about each reef’s ecosystem. It felt like diving with a friend who truly loves the sea, not just guiding for the day.
The dive sites themselves were stunning—crystal-clear visibility, vibrant coral gardens, and moments where time seemed to slow underwater. Between dives, we appreciated how thoughtful the crew was, offering refreshments, checking on everyone’s comfort, and making sure the mood stayed light and friendly.
By the end of the day, we weren’t just impressed; we were genuinely grateful. Wonder Dive Bali managed to combine professionalism with genuine warmth, creating an experience that felt personal and unforgettable. We left with smiles, new skills, and a deeper respect for Bali’s underwater world. Without a doubt, we’ll be diving with them again on our next visit.

We had the pleasure of diving with Nomads Diving Bali, and the experience left us both grateful and impressed. From the moment we arrived, their team made us feel less like customers and more like part of a small diving family. The first thing that stood out was their professionalism. Every detail—from the gear setup to the pre-dive briefings—was handled with care and clarity. We could tell that safety wasn’t just a checklist for them; it was a mindset. Even as experienced divers, we appreciated how patient and attentive the instructors were, ensuring that everyone, regardless of skill level, felt confident before entering the water.
The second thing that truly made a difference was the atmosphere they created. The Nomads crew struck that perfect balance between relaxed island vibes and serious diving expertise. Between dives, we shared stories over coffee and laughter on the boat, which made the entire day feel personal and unhurried. It’s rare to find a place that makes diving both so comfortable and so enriching.
Finally, the dive sites they chose were nothing short of breathtaking. The visibility, the vibrant coral, the quiet presence of turtles—it all felt like a reminder of why we fell in love with diving in the first place. What made it special, though, was how the guides shared their passion for marine conservation, giving meaning to every dive. We left not only with beautiful memories but also with a deeper respect for the ocean and for the people who care for it.

We recently dived with Pebble & Fins, and it was an experience that reminded us why we love the ocean so much. From the moment we arrived, their team made us feel completely at ease with a perfect mix of professionalism and genuine warmth. The check-in was smooth, the equipment was in excellent condition, and the instructors took the time to get to know each diver’s comfort level before heading out. It was clear that safety and enjoyment were their top priorities, and that gave us full confidence from the very first dive.
What really stood out was how knowledgeable and passionate the crew was about marine life. They didn’t just guide us underwater—they shared stories about the reefs, the fish, and how to dive responsibly while protecting the environment. Between dives, they created such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere on the boat that it felt more like a group of friends sharing an adventure than a formal tour.
The dive sites themselves were spectacular. Crystal-clear water, vibrant coral gardens, and the occasional turtle gliding past—it was everything we hoped for and more. The guides seemed to know all the best spots and had an incredible eye for spotting hidden sea creatures we might have missed. By the end of the day, we felt both exhilarated and deeply grateful. Pebble & Fins doesn’t just take you diving; they give you a full, heartfelt experience that connects you to the sea in the most authentic way.

Blue Corner Dive

We recently spent several days diving with Blue Corner Dive on Nusa Lembongan and around Nusa Penida, and our overall impression is very favourable. Here are our thoughts based on three key criteria: safety & professionalism, dive experience & environment, and guest support & logistics.
From the moment we arrived, safety and professionalism stood out. The team maintained impressively low guide-to-diver ratios (1:4) and explained their safety protocols clearly—including dive times, surface marker buoys, and emergency equipment aboard the boats. The dive centre emphasises diver safety as their number one priority. (We sensed they didn’t just say it—they lived it). They also maintained clean, well-serviced equipment and required divers to declare their certification level and dive experiences beforehand. That attention made us feel comfortable even when diving more challenging sites.
In terms of dive experience and environment, this shop delivers. They ran trips to some of the region’s more dramatic sites—steep walls, drift dives and the chance to see large pelagic species. One particularly memorable dive was on a slope near 20 – 30 m where we glimpsed eagle rays, barracuda and huge schools of trevally. We were impressed at how the guides selected the site based on conditions. While some spots were clearly reserved for advanced divers (especially when currents picked up), the ones chosen for the day were matched to our level, and that enabled us to enjoy the big-fish action while staying within our comfort zone. The rich marine life and beautiful terrain made the dives special.
Finally, as regards guest support and logistics, Blue Corner Dive was strong. They helped arrange transport to the dive centre from nearby, explained equipment rental fees upfront, and offered clear packages for fun dives and training. The dive centre is beachfront, making gear handling and boat boarding much smoother than mainland alternatives. We appreciated that they handled the little details—refreshments aboard, gear stowage, briefings on each dive site—and provided the kind of smooth, friendly service that let us focus on the diving rather than logistics.
In sum, diving with Blue Corner Dive felt like a well-managed, high-quality experience. If you are in Bali or the Nusa islands and looking to dive with skilled staff, good equipment and access to excellent underwater terrain, we’d confidently recommend giving them a look.

We recently dived with No Fear Diving, a 5-Star PADI German dive resort set right on Amed’s beach‑front with world‑class sites on their doorstep, and it more than earns its reputation.
Their ethos is quality over quantity: small groups, individual sessions, and private coaching meant you can progress at your own pace. The highly‑qualified, certified, and insured instructors—experienced with anxious and differently‑abled divers of all ages—also speak English, Indonesian, and Russian fluently, so every connection and communication on every dive was crystal clear.
They have a huge selection of courses and dive activities: easy, fun shore dives for first‑timers; custom courses to conquer fears and anxiety; advanced PADI and RAID Tec courses; plus specialties like night shore dives and mesmerizing blackwater boat dives. Premium, well‑maintained equipment is included, and the safety culture never compromises standards. Pricing is fair and all‑inclusive with no hidden costs—exactly as advertised.
Booking was a breeze: their site is one of Bali’s most advanced, easy‑to‑use booking and onboarding websites, handling dives and accommodation with instant confirmation and easy payment by credit card, Wise, or bank transfer. For a seamless stay, Amed’ku Villa sits on‑site with direct beach access, ocean views, and a front‑row look at Mount Agung—authentic charm with contemporary comfort in the heart of town. In short: guest service with heart, delivered in a super supportive and safe way with plenty of amazing dive sites to visit.
| Something to consider: Because they keep groups tiny and offer true one‑to‑one attention, spots go fast—book early. Before my dives, the team co‑planned every detail around my goals (sites, pace, skills) and stayed flexible if conditions shifted. The result was a safety‑first schedule that felt tailor‑made. |
