NuBUD Legian stands out from most day spas in Bali, as it doubles as Body Worship Wellness and Chilla’s Cafe.

While being right on Jln Legian means dealing with the busy street outside, once you step inside, it’s a calm escape. The location made it super convenient for us to drop by after work.

We love that their wellness focus extends beyond standard massages, with the branding leaning into a ritual and atmospheric experience—chill, refresh, and recharge.

Choosing a scent that suited us was a small detail, but it made the treatment feel more personal.

In fact, what worked for us was how seamlessly the spa and cafe blended together. The Chilla’s Cafe was cozy, light, and relaxing. It’s really perfect for keeping calm vibes.

The place looked super chill and definitely Instagram-worthy. Plus, since they’re open until 9 PM, we could drop by in the evening when everything felt more relaxed.

Pros

  • Combines Body Worship Wellness spa with Chilla’s Café
  • Central location
  • Option to choose your preferred aroma for treatments
  • Relaxed and Instagrammable atmosphere
  • Open until around 9 PM

Cons

  • Busy street location

This is the best one for sure

“This is the best one for sure, highly recommended! We will be back again before our trip ends here. It is worth of your time and money, ambience good. Clean facilities and professional staff. We chose the Natural body scrub and Balinese Massage (90 mins). We requested for two female-masseuse (Ps. instead of male for my bf. I requested if we can get another female, luckily a good decision because i dont want them to see my naked body 😆 and we didnt expect to remove everything but all good because they provided a thin underwear, if you are concervative so just heads up) 10/10 ⭐”

Throughout the service, they made sure it was comfortable

“Among a street of hustlers, I stumbled across this gem of a place. I was met with smiling ladies with good English skills who understood what I wanted and gave me a recommendation. I was then taken to a seating area where I waited and selected which oil would be used. From there, I was paired with the lovely Lisa who gave me an absolutely killer deep tissue massage, throughout the service she made sure I was comfortable and that it was okay. The service is lovely and the massage doesn’t feel rushed, would recommend.”

Alam Wellness Bali truly lives up to its name—“Alam” meaning nature in Indonesian—and this connection is deeply felt throughout the retreat. Located in Pererenan, it is uniquely surrounded by wildflower forests, saltwater pools, and soothing views of rivers and waterfalls.

Unlike many other properties in Bali, Alam sits beside a mini waterfall and rushing river, which, according to Balinese belief, acts as a spiritual portal that channels healing energy. This is why their healing massage areas are placed near the water, where many guests have reported profound emotional releases and genuine feelings of renewal.

The garden villas, used as private treatment nests, create a cocoon-like atmosphere that makes each session feel deeply personal. Unlike larger spa resorts, the layout offers guests more privacy and immersion in nature. The on-site café and saltwater pool also encourage guests to linger longer, turning a spa visit into a rejuvenating day-out experience.

Saltwater pools are particularly rare in Bali, and this one reflects Alam’s sustainable, earth-conscious philosophy—promoting skin- and hair-friendly wellness while supporting a slow-living approach that aligns the mind and body.

We were also impressed by the extensive range of treatments, which go far beyond the typical Balinese massage. From Ayurvedic scalp therapy to Gua Sha facials, each session carries a thoughtful touch that blends natural ingredients with skilled technique.

Prices start at IDR 300,000, with taxes already included—a refreshing difference from many spas that add hidden costs at checkout. Alam focuses on natural, vegan, and almost edible-grade products rich in collagen-boosting and skin-repairing properties, using curing lamps only where necessary, and ensuring their polishes are 32- and HEMA-free.

Another meaningful aspect is Alam’s commitment to women and mothers. The business is 95% women- and mother-run, supporting flexible schedules, paid sick time, and work-life balance without pay cuts. The retail area features mother- and female-owned local brands, while the co-working space allows women to blend productivity, wellness, and self-care in one seamless flow—a rare find in Bali’s spa scene.

While our visit was overwhelmingly positive, there were minor service mix-ups during one of our appointments. It’s easily avoidable by confirming details at booking, especially through Fresha, which provides clear scheduling and treatment information for both guests and staff. The Alam team also remains proactive and open to feedback, always seeking ways to refine the guest experience and maintain their nurturing, harmonious environment.

Pros

  • Nature-immersed setting with wildflower forests
  • Treatment nests and villas for privacy
  • Saltwater pool and café on-site
  • Wide range of services (Ayurvedic therapies included)
  • Integrates grooming and beauty services
  • Supports clean beauty and local brands

Cons

  • Service consistency can fall short during appointments

Super accessible, calm, and quiet

“I had the most incredible massage / energy healing session here, followed by an anti-aging facial that felt amazing for my skin — I tend to have dryness even in Bali, and it left my skin deeply hydrated. The setting is stunning: we enjoyed the pool and the peaceful atmosphere. It’s right in the center of Canggu, so it’s super accessible, yet it’s incredibly calm and quiet. There are plenty of little hidden corners where you can feel completely secluded, even from other guests — it feels very intimate.”

The space is beautifully aesthetic

“I absolutely love Alam! The staff are warm and attentive, the space is beautifully aesthetic, and it’s such a calm escape from the noisiness of Canggu. The food is incredible, especially the pesto pasta and chicken – and I often come here just with my laptop or journal to enjoy tea in peace! Their facials and hair treatments are consistently excellent and my favourite, and leave me feeling refreshed and cared for. Alam is definitely one of my sanctuaries in Bali, and I’m going to miss it when I head back to London!”

Unforgettable Couples Spa Experience

“Amati Spa in Ubud is an absolute must-visit! I had the couple’s package and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. It began with 30 minutes of a Head Spa treatment that felt amazing, followed by a one-hour Balinese relaxing massage that was simply incredible. To top it all off, I enjoyed 30 minutes of a beautiful floral bath. On top of that, we had access to the pools, saunas, and hammams, which made the whole experience even more perfect. The place itself is stunning and the staff are truly exceptional. Highly recommended this is one of those experiences you simply cannot miss in Ubud!”

La Nusa Bali Spa instantly gives that sense of an old favourite that has stood the test of time. The riverside bamboo design feels calming. The private rooms, each with its own shower and bath, add a touch of luxury.

The treatment menu is one of the most diverse we’ve come across, featuring everything from Hot Rattan Massage and Ayurveda Shirodhara to scrubs made with seaweed from Nusa Penida or even red wine blends.

However, the free hotel transfer turned out to be less straightforward than expected, as it only applied to specific areas or package lengths. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but arranging our own ride from outside the zone added a bit of hassle.

Price-wise, it falls into the mid-to-upper bracket, though the value felt fair. A 90-minute massage, priced at approximately IDR 460,000, felt reasonable for the quality.

The promotions on packages like Cozy Refresh or the Male Spa provided a balance of flexibility for both time and budget.

Pros

  • Over two decades in the industry
  • Serene riverside setting
  • Wide variety of treatments
  • Uses homemade essential oils

Cons

  • Limited free transfer

Kind and polite reception staff

“Best Bali spa and massage experience I’ve ever tried. Came here twice, once at night for the massage and another morning for the sun healing treatment. Glad that I managed to squeeze in one more session before flying back. Kind and polite reception staffs, for responding to my queries at late night. Nice car ride free pick up and drop off from hotel, more than 15 choices of essential oil. Has a shower room for quick shower as well. Overall an amazing experience.”

Very relaxing, and the place felt welcoming

“I had such a super nice experience here! The massage was very relaxing and the place felt welcoming. Big thanks to Santi and Vavi. they’re not only very skilled but also so friendly and easy to talk to. They made me feel comfortable the whole time and really listened to what I needed. It didn’t feel rushed at all, and I could tell they genuinely cared about making sure I had a good experience.

Even after the massage they will offer you refreshing tea and cookies. Thank you so much!”

Sekar Jagat Spa in Nusa Dua was founded by Ibu Indri, who is often credited as a pioneer of Balinese spa culture. The name, meaning “flowers of the earth,” really comes alive in the way the space blends tradition with authenticity.

Stepping here feels like a classic retreat, with semi-open treatment rooms with greenery and garden baths that make everything feel close to nature. There are air-conditioned options and family rooms, a nice sense of flexibility depending on who we come with.

The treatments had an unmistakably grounded quality. Whether it was a Balinese massage, a boreh ritual with freshly mixed herbs, or Shirodhara with warm oil poured in a steady stream, it never felt rushed or generic.

The only catch was that some of the packages were time-intensive, with signature rituals lasting from three to five hours. It meant we had to plan our visit carefully, since this wasn’t the kind of spa you could just drop by between activities.

Nonetheless, what made it more impressive was discovering that the spa also trains therapists, with more than 1,000 professionals taught worldwide.

Pros

  • Family-run spa founded by a Balinese spa pioneer
  • Authentic rituals using in-house products
  • Offers unique Shirodhara packages
  • Flexible booking with family rooms

Cons

  • Time-intensive packages

Everything was top-notch

“What an amazing spa! Everything was top notch – from the vibes of the place, the people, the pick-up service, the amazing flower bath, and the massage and scrub! I have no complaints and fully recommend everyone to come visit Sekar Jagat Spa if they are nearby. Price was great too including hotel pick-up and drop-off, and taxes too.”

A mini massage for the back pain was very helpful.

“I did the 3 day Balinese massage therapy course here and had a great experience with the teachers and staff, learning how to do a full body treatment. It was mostly hands on work which I liked and I was provided with notes on the practices too. A delicious lunch was included each day (hotel transfer too depending on your location). They also gave me a mini massage for my back pain that was very helpful. I would like to return and definitely recommend.”

Taman Air Spa in Kuta is true to its name, which translates to “Water Garden Spa.” From the moment we walked in, the sound of flowing ponds and waterfalls set a serene backdrop that made the whole space feel calm.

Prices start at IDR 300,000 for a one-hour massage, while couples’ packages can reach up to IDR 1.5 million. It’s definitely on the higher end compared to the smaller spas scattered around Kuta.

But the facilities stood out the most, with 12 deluxe rooms and two spa suites that included private Jacuzzis and open pavilions.

The menu was extensive, with options ranging from hot stone massages to organic facials featuring ingredients such as avocado, moringa, and water lily.

It’s also nice knowing that they have received the “Best Stand-Alone Spa” award, offer vegan-friendly treatments, and stay open until 10 pm.

Pros

  • Unique water-inspired design
  • Spacious villa-style treatment rooms
  • Wide menu range
  • Offers organic and vegan treatment
  • Recognized as the “Best Stand-Alone Spa”

Cons

  • Premium pricing

Kind, professional, and made the session special

“Me and my husband had an amazing experience at Taman Air Spa Bali! We booked the Honeymoon Couple Package to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and it was everything we hoped for relaxing, peaceful, and beautifully done. Big shoutout to our wonderful therapists, Ibu Sunarti and Ibu Rahma. They were so kind and professional, and really made the session special for us. We left feeling completely refreshed and pampered.🍃

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a quality spa experience in Bali. Will definitely come back! ❤️”

Moment of true stillness, expert touch, and best experience

“From the moment I stepped into the hushed elegance of Taman Air Spa, I felt cocooned in serenity. The 60-minute Balinese Massage was a masterclass in therapeutic care—each movement deliberate, each pressure point addressed with intuitive grace. Aromatic oils and ambient music created a multi-sensory escape that transcended the ordinary. The lounge, complete with herbal infusions and soft lighting, was the perfect first impression and last but not least is hot ginger tea by coda to a sublime experience. For a moment of true stillness, expert touch and best experience, it is worth every indulgent penny.”
