Professional Court Protection with the 5 Best DUI Lawyers in Bali

Licensing and Certifications: I only worked with lawyers who are Indonesian citizens, have passed the UPA, and have completed the Advocate Profession Special Education Program.

Experience: I selected lawyers who specialize in DUI and assault cases, as these two are typically intertwined.

Reviews and Reputation: I reviewed several online testimonials and word-of-mouth recommendations, which gave me a better understanding of each lawyer’s approach to cases.

Transparency of Fees: I chose lawyers who are transparent about their fees from the beginning and don’t include hidden fees or additional costs per trial.

Having a fun night out might end in disaster if you choose to drive. Even in a paradise like Bali, driving under the influence, also known as DUIs, is strictly prohibited by law. Being caught can easily result in jail time or, worse, deportation.

The good news is that a skilled DUI lawyer can help clients navigate the consequences of their actions. While penalties may include fines or warnings, these outcomes are often preferable to jail time.

With that in mind, I’ve compiled a list of the best DUI lawyers in Bali that I know you should trust to get you out of these sticky situations.

How much does it cost to hire a DUI lawyer in Bali?

Hiring a DUI lawyer in Bali typically costs around IDR 22.6 million to IDR 79.2 million per day. This price can change easily due to the lawyer’s fee structure, consultation fees, and the complexity of the case.

At Arie & Dewi Law Office, the firm has experience in civil and criminal law and is often a great choice for individuals facing lawsuits. They work closely with clients to develop a personalized, legally sound strategy to help them resolve cases.

I like that their lawyers focus on providing a fair trial and a strong defense for clients, often consulting with both parties to get a full picture of the case. Their services range from minor offenses to serious charges, including assault.

In addition, they can handle state administrative law cases and disputes effectively and efficiently. They are also well-versed in employment law, with experience in contracts and workplace disputes.

Expats and locals won’t have to worry much, as their lawyers are fluent in English, Indonesian, and Balinese. However, due to limited staff, they can handle only a few cases at a time.

Pros

  • Wide range of expertise
  • Best for individuals
  • Consults both parties
  • Lawyers are well-versed in three languages
  • Great for workplace-related disputes

Cons

  • Only handles a few cases at a time

I couldn’t be more grateful for the service I received

“I was fortunate to find this law firm for a rather complicated legal case in Bali, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the service I received. From the very beginning, they provided clear and honest information, with no hidden costs or surprises. Although the process was long, they guided me through every step with exceptional dedication and professionalism.

What stood out the most was their deep knowledge of Indonesian law—labor, civil, criminal, and commercial. Their approach was truly personalized: even though they have many clients, I always felt like I was their only one. Their personal attention was as outstanding as their professional service, which is rare to find.

On top of that, their English is excellent, which is a huge advantage for expats or foreigners who need clarity and confidence when dealing with legal matters. Their fees are very reasonable considering the high level of service they provide.

I highly recommend this law firm to anyone needing legal assistance in Indonesia, especially expats seeking a trustworthy and highly competent team.

THANK YOU!”

Kind, professional, and genuinely willing to assist

“I did not have the chance to meet Ms. Arie in person, but she provided me with valuable information through WhatsApp that helped clarify an unfamiliar legal situation in Bali. She was kind, professional, and genuinely willing to assist by answering my questions and offering helpful advice.

I would highly recommend Ms. Arie for any legal needs.”

Karo Karo Law is led by Esra Karo, who has practiced law since 1995. His firm is well-equipped to handle a wide range of cases, from Criminal Law to tax law.

The firm can handle multiple cases simultaneously and is known for its expertise in family law and public law. I’ve also found them useful for consultancy and permit handling, including visas and passports.

He and his firm are well-established speakers of Bahasa Indonesia, English, and Japanese.

I love how upfront Karo Karo Law Office is with their fees. The first consultation with them is always free; subsequent consultations cost IDR 1,000,000. Additionally, I appreciate that pricing depends on the size of the business they are working with.

Still, I wouldn’t recommend them for big businesses due to high tariffs.

Pros

  • Upfront with fees
  • Over 30 years of experience
  • Handles several cases at once
  • Works with Visas and passports
  • Well-established speakers of different languages

Cons

  • Not suitable for big businesses

I would absolutely recommend him and would be happy to come back to him for future concerns if necessary.”

I felt supported throughout the entire process

“I am from Europe and had no understanding of the law in Indonesia. This lawyer helped me immensely, providing clear and professional advice from the very beginning. Even before hiring him, he offered valuable guidance for free through WhatsApp, which was very generous. He has deep knowledge of Indonesian law and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. I felt supported throughout the entire process. I highly recommend his services to anyone in need of legal help in Indonesia. Definitely 5 stars!”

Bali Legals is an Australian-owned boutique firm that blends local expertise with international standards. They are trusted by tourists and expats and have over 15 years of experience, having represented 1,700 clients.

While their main focus is visas, their lawyers are experts in all areas of legal practice in Bali. I’ve seen how knowledgeable they are as defense lawyers in criminal cases, and they can also perform well on the prosecution side.

As for DUI cases, they can easily represent clients and tailor their services to each case. Clients who have received their services have noted a significant reduction in sentence length, and some have even been granted a suspension of detention after a single proceeding.

However, several clients found it difficult to reach them. I’d suggest going straight to their office or contacting them via mobile, since their social media tends to get swamped.

Pros

  • Over 15 years of experience
  • Represented over 1,700 clients
  • Extensive law coverage
  • Tailor-made approach

Cons

  • Difficult to contact

I had a great experience with Bali Legals

“I had a great experience with Bali Legals. They responded very quickly to my initial enquiry and were able to translate two legal documents for my partner’s UK visitor visa application within 1-2 days. The whole process was very prompt and efficient and they also arranged delivery without any issues. The pricing was reasonable and transparent. I would definitely recommend their services and would use them again.”

With over 20 years of law practice, Vidhi Law Office has been a staple in serving residents of Bali and Lombok with all their legal needs. I appreciate that they are among the most efficient and successful firms in immigration and visas.

They have three lawyers at this firm, but I.G. A. R. Fajar Harini focuses on criminal and defamation cases. She’s an expert lawyer who has appeared in the district, high, and supreme courts. Additionally, she can deal with cases involving narcotics.

Other forms of Criminal Law cases that they focus on are drug offences, assault, and fraud. Clients value them for helping them achieve the best possible outcome in each case, often securing the best possible sentence.

Additionally, they can work on family law cases and provide translation and interpretation services to clients. However, they are not well-versed in international law.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of law practice
  • The firm consists of 3 experienced lawyers
  • Focuses on criminal law

Cons

  • Not well-versed in international law

I had a great experience with a recent legal property process

In particular, ni Wayan Anggarani, and ni Wayan Juni Artini, they managed the sale process and provided sound advice, they were always available and responded immediately. It was a complex deal and their legal advice, accounting accuracy and general management of the process was excellent. Thank You!”

Established in 2010, Bali International Law Office (Bilolaw) has been a reliable ally for expats on the island. They comprise experienced lawyers with expertise across multiple areas of Indonesian Law.

Their team comprises several partners, primarily Mohammad Ahmadi and Rengga Rahmadhany, both successful lawyers specializing in litigation and non-litigation matters.

Due to this specialization, many of their clients who suffered a DUI have been able to get through the litigation process more quickly than others. Additionally, I value that they can have criminal cases reduced to simple penalties or fines.

Other areas of Indonesian law they can work with include real estate and labor law, which are the two most common areas expats are exposed to.

However, I may not recommend them to locals, since their speciality is working with expats.

Pros

  • Over 15 years of service
  • Works well with litigation
  • Covers a wide range of laws and cases

Cons

  • May be more suitable for expats

“As an english-speaking visitor from Australia, I had quick and professional help from these guys. I thought I’d never get my things sorted because of the language barrier, but Bali International Law Office kept things simple and straight-forward, offering relevant advice and being a trustworthy partner all the way through to winning my case.

For everyone who is struggling with timeshare scams – these guys will help you set things straight and save your holiday. Cheers”
