5 Best Voice Lessons in Bali That Will Help You Hit the Right Notes

Instructor Expertise and Background: We checked the professional training, teaching history, and performance experience of the primary vocal coaches.

Curriculum Flexibility and Diversity: We assessed the variety of musical genres offered by each institution, ranging from classical training to popular music styles.

Performance Opportunities: We looked for schools that offer organized recitals, ensemble collaborations, or live public concerts for their students. Getting real stage experience is essential for building confidence and conquering performance anxiety.

Facility Quality and Resources: We considered the quality of the learning environments, including instrument availability, soundproofing, and modern recording equipment.

Finding proper vocal coaching while enjoying island life can completely transform your musical journey, whether you’re trying to nail a complex aria or just want to hold a tune at a beachside karaoke night.

Sure, there are plenty of things to do in Bali, but few are as satisfying as hearing yourself hit notes you never thought possible.

From cultural hubs in Denpasar to creative spaces in Canggu, the best voice lessons in Bali come from studios that focus on personalized coaching rather than generic warm-ups.

Fortunately, the island is full of qualified instructors who understand vocal technique and style development. Investing in professional training can help you safely unlock your vocal range and build confidence with every session.

Bali Rudiment Music Course & Performing Arts is a comprehensive center that goes beyond standard vocal training. They’re ideal for students with special needs, including those with Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome.

While exploring virtual offices around the city, I visited their facility and really liked how the instructors balance a relaxed atmosphere with a structured learning approach.

They work with all age groups, so complete beginners can comfortably explore their voice through classical or popular styles.

Your kids will also get lots of opportunities to perform live in front of an audience through school concerts.

Beyond vocals, they also offer creative group programs like musical theatre, podcasting, and music production to help build well-rounded performers.

However, if you’re looking specifically for English-speaking vocal coaching, options are more limited. Their international sessions are just 30 minutes long, which can feel a bit rushed compared to the standard 60-minute local classes.

Pros

  • Tailored vocal classes for special needs students
  • Offers both classical and popular music singing styles
  • Regular live concert performance opportunities
  • Open to all ages and skill levels

Cons

  • Shorter 30-minute sessions for English instruction

Confident Performance After Six Months

My daughter has joined Bali Rudiment since January 2024, and she can now perform a full song of Old Mcdonald confidently in public on last month, June 2024. I’m surprised of how fast she learn during these 6 months with only 4 x 30 minutes monthly. Thank you teachers and the team!

Address: Gg. Penataran Sari III, Pemogan, Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar

Contact: 819 1619 9898

Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

If you’re looking for a deeply traditional approach to music education, PGKRI Guitar & Vocal Course operates under the expert leadership of Lianto Tjahjoputro, an international-level Indonesian guitar maestro with 35 years of teaching experience.

The studio leans heavily into classical performance and high-level musicianship, often working through complex virtuoso pieces and detailed duet arrangements that focus on precision and technique.

I also spoke with a local musician who praised their rigorous approach to ear training and stage preparation.

That same standard carries into their professional work, with classical guitar and soprano vocal performances offered for high-end weddings and local events.

In terms of flexibility, they offer both online and offline private sessions, which makes it easier to fit lessons around other professional commitments without too much disruption.

Do take note, though, that they’re less suitable if your goal is to learn modern radio-style singing, as the academy is still firmly rooted in classical guitar and instrumental ensembles.

Pros

  • Directed by an experienced musical maestro
  • Flexible online and offline lesson formats
  • Offers elite classical soprano performance training
  • Opportunity to learn event entertainment skills

Cons

  • Heavy bias toward classical guitar over voice

If you want to step away from Western pop music and immerse yourself in traditional Balinese vocal style, Mekar Bhuana Gamelan and Dance Centre is a great place to start.

It was founded with a clear mission to reconstruct and preserve endangered classical gamelan, a traditional Indonesian ensemble instrument, as well as historical repertoire, offering a learning experience that feels both cultural and deeply hands-on.

Workshops here are fully open to foreigners, with expert guidance from ethnomusicologists who speak fluent English.

You can even choose between short private sessions or longer-term study programs, depending on your travel schedule and how deeply you want to engage with the material.

The trade-off is that the curriculum stays fully focused on traditional Balinese music and dance, so you won’t find Western pop vocal training or classical opera coaching here.

As the first school on the island authorized to deliver the complete International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, Bali Island School also runs a strong private music academy.

Inside its secondary music wing, students can take one-on-one singing lessons in professional soundproof studios designed for focused vocal training.

The facility is exceptionally well-equipped, with upright and baby grand pianos, plus professional amplifiers that support both practice and performance.

Vocal students also have the option to sit for Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations twice a year, earning globally recognized certifications.

For more hands-on experience, there are campus ensembles like the School of Rock or the Funk Band to develop real-life band performance skills.

Just keep in mind that the music academy operates mainly as an extracurricular program for enrolled K–12 students, so it doesn’t function as an open-access studio for the general public or short-term visitors.

Pros

  • Private singing lessons in soundproof studios
  • Twice-yearly international ABRSM exam preparation
  • Excellent collaborative rock and funk band groups
  • Equipped with high-end baby grand pianos

Cons

  • Restricted primarily to enrolled school students
