Find Calm at These 5 Mental Health Centers in Bali for Support

Certifications and Qualifications: We ensured that the clinics we examined have licensed psychiatrists or accredited mental health professionals.

Experience and Specialization: We also weighed each center’s track record, whether they focus on inpatient rehab or dual-diagnosis treatment.

Pricing and Value: Since Bali attracts both locals and tourists, we examined pricing transparency closely. Some clinics list session rates openly, while others keep costs unclear, which can be frustrating.

Flexibility and Customization: We awarded extra points to clinics that adapt their programs to offer telehealth, short-term counseling, or longer rehabilitation options.

Accessibility and Support: We considered location and ongoing support. We preferred centers that operate 24/7 helplines or provide aftercare programs.

Life in paradise can still feel overwhelming when stress or loneliness creep in. Even in a beautiful place like Bali, it’s easy to carry silent struggles beneath the surface smiles.

Acknowledging your emotional well-being is just as important as caring for your body. The right support can help you heal, rebuild strength, and rediscover balance in your daily life.

Thankfully, there are trusted services and specialists for mental health in Bali, providing people with a safe space to open up and grow stronger. Read on to discover where you can find support.

The Denpasar Mental Health Centre has been operational since 2019 and is one of Bali’s more forward-thinking options for mental health care.

The focus here is on proactive screening and early detection, rather than just treating issues after they appear. A key component of this approach is the SIKEMON tool, a free online screening system accessible on your phone at any time.

Since it’s evidence-based and clinically validated, it feels far more reliable than the casual self-help quizzes you usually find online.

Behind it all is an AI-driven forward chaining expert system, which guides the screening process without storing your personal data.

The main drawback is the lack of inpatient or emergency psychiatric care, which can be limiting if someone needs urgent support. For those cases, it may not be the best first stop.

Alongside screening, there’s also Yoga Rileks and speech therapy. The English-speaking staff makes it approachable for expats too.

Pros

  • Free and accessible screening tool (SIKEMON)
  • Uses AI for early detection and monitoring
  • Confidential, no data stored
  • Wide range of screenings
  • Holistic services like Yoga Rileks and counseling
  • English-speaking staff

Cons

  • No emergency psychiatric services

Passionate and a good listener

“I went to Bali from Jakarta to heal from my hectic and stressful livestyle and also from a bad abusive relationship. I had to try healing mentally and physically even spiritually. Somehow I ended up finding Bu Rasmin and she has helped me a lot even I stay longer in Bali because I want to see her until I’m healed. I got really bad chest pain that I don’t understand what the cause was, I went to spiritual healing, medical check up, turns out it was psychological. Nuts right? I didn’t know trauma can cause physical pain but turns out it is scientific. Bu Rasmin helped me through therapy to release my trauma. It hurts so bad for the first few days. Just imagine like a dentist, poking through your gum to clean a bad infection. But then I learned to control my trauma. I need more sessions though, that was my childhood trauma and I still have lots more 😅

Been making good progress so far. Overall, recommended. She’s so passionate and a good listener.”

Empathetic and understanding approach

“DMHC was incredibly prompt and efficient in scheduling counseling sessions that fit my busy schedule. My counselor, Ni Luh Rasmin (she got advanced degree by the way, S.Psi and M. psi), is an amazing psychologist who excels in building self-confidence and addressing anxieties. With an empathetic and understanding approach, she guided me to overcoming fears, enabling me to cultivate healthy interpersonal relationships and empowering me with the confidence to build my career. I truly appreciate Ibu Rasmin’s counselling for the profound positive impact it has had on both my personal and professional life. A big thank you to Ibu Rasmin for her work in helping me process emotions and unlock my potential. She is very caring and truly a blessing in my life.”

Bali Mental Health Clinic opened in 2023, becoming the island’s first dedicated inpatient mental health facility.

With 19 psychiatrists, including the former director of Bali Provincial Mental Hospital, the team brings strong credentials to handle complex cases.

The 24/7 Psychiatric Emergency Department stands out, supported by its own ambulance service for immediate response. It’s one of the few places on the island where urgent psychiatric needs can be managed at any hour.

Inpatient care here feels more akin to a private hospital than a clinic, thanks to single rooms and stabilization units designed with comfort in mind.

We found great support here for the children in addiction recovery. They offer telemedicine and free student assessments (really great services!). Working with groups like SoleFamily Foundation makes it feel connected to the community.

One concern is the lack of clarity regarding insurance acceptance, whether for local BPJS policies or international policies. It was difficult to determine the real costs upfront, as the coverage details were unclear, according to some patients.

Pros

  • 24/7 psychiatric emergency department
  • Private single-occupancy inpatient rooms
  • Wide-ranging services
  • Offers addiction recovery service
  • Collaborates with local mental health NGOs

Cons

  • Unclear insurance coverage

So kind and helpful

“I had a very traumatic experience while on holidays and needed help to manage my anxiety. The psychiatrists from BMHC were so kind and helpful. I made an appointment and they came to my hotel within 2 hours. They stayed and talked with me, gave me  counselling and prescribed me medication. They stayed with me to ensure I was responding well to the medication. I would never receive treatment this good in Australia even with private heath insurance. I am so thankful to them for their help. They charged a very reasonable rate for the service provided.”

Willing to go above and beyond

“This establishment is willing to go above and beyond to help me recover. I owe a lot to their services. High regards to Dr. Rai, who is practically running the show. I highly recommend calling their ambulance if you need help with any kind of mental chemistry imbalances (externally induced or not).”

Somatic Healing by SoulRise is guided by Gülçin, a certified Pantarei Approach practitioner. The sessions here are crafted for those seeking trauma release and emotional balance through body-based healing, which feels intimate and grounding.

Each session lasts about 90 minutes. It begins with a conversational consultation that gently transitions into hands-on bodywork and breath awareness. It closes with reflective coaching that feels more like a retreat.

However, the practice doesn’t provide psychiatric diagnoses or crisis care, so it’s not designed for individuals needing medical supervision. It’s better suited for emotional recalibration and stress release rather than acute intervention.

The environment is softly lit and deeply personal, often described by clients as safe and restorative. With flexible options for in-person sessions in Ubud or online consultations, it feels accessible without losing its sense of calm.

Pricing is also clear from the start, with packages laid out transparently to keep the experience simple and stress-free.

Pros

  • Specializes in somatic and trauma-informed healing
  • Structured sessions with consultation and bodywork
  • Safe and compassionate retreat-like environment
  • Offers online consultations

Calming presence made a new practice feel natural

“Booked a somatic session with Gulcin in Ubud and it became one of those rare, unforgettable moments. From the first minute I felt safe, cared for, and truly seen. Her clear guidance and calming presence made a new practice feel natural, and the shifts were real. I left lighter, breathing easier, and with simple tools I can keep using. Heartfelt, professional, and absolutely worth making time for in Bali. ✨”

Gently guiding you to the core issues at hand

“It was my first time trying an SE session with Gucci, and wow what a lovely experience! I went in not knowing too much about it. Open mind, curious, open hearted. It started with 30-45min of Talk Therapy for us to figure out what the root issues are to work on, then the second half is somatic (body-based) work. Starting with deep breathing, tuning in, releasing, attunement. Then the last 5-10min I was left alone to lay down and integrate the experience. Sharing after was optional. All in all, what a beautiful experience 🙂 Gulcin has a beautiful way of holding space, listening, witnessing, firmly and gently guiding you to the core issues at hand. Very sensitive and responsive, I felt totally at ease, seen, understood, held and listened to. Feeling so so much lighter, more expansive, connected with myself and clearer after that session. Thank you so much for doing the work that you do! <3”

Bali Bersama Bisa Mental Healthcare was founded in 2020 by 12 marginalized communities and NGOs. It carries a deep sense of inclusion, where patients are treated with care that feels personal rather than procedural.

Each month, more than a thousand people benefit from the work of dedicated psychiatrists, psychologists, and volunteers who give the center its soul.

The 24/7 L.I.S.A. Helpline is one of its most comforting lifelines. It offers multilingual support in English and Bahasa for anyone facing crisis moments. Even from afar, the warmth of their response makes it easy to sense empathy and understanding.

On the other hand, their location in Dalung, North Kuta, limits in-person accessibility for those based in other areas. For many, the helpline becomes the only viable option when distance is an issue.

Beyond that, their 28-day recovery program and fee-based Recovery House introduce yoga and nature-based aftercare that blend healing with purpose. And their Freedom Summit event radiates that same collective hope.

Pros

  • Inclusive care supporting over 1,000 people monthly
  • 24/7 multilingual L.I.S.A. Helpline
  • Wide holistic programs
  • Offers a 28-day recovery program
  • Fee-based Recovery House
  • Founded by marginalized groups
  • Hosts unique events for awareness

Cons

  • Physical services are limited to Dalung, North Kuta

Showcased the true nature of human compassion

“A pretty special place, an important space. Run solely on donation and by the goodness of volunteers. Keep it up, this makes me smile to see. Wednesday night community night – an amazing space for people going through mental health struggles to feel safe and come and share their experience strength and hope. An amazing gem showcasing the true nature of human compassion and love and support. FANTASTIC 🤘😝🤘”

A safe place to get heard

“What a safe place to get heard, provide free mental health and addiction services, include: brief initial assessment, psychiatrist assessment, medication, counseling by psychologist and qualified counselor, case management, peer support group, 28 days outpatient rehabilitation for mental health & addiction, and food bank. They also have child care department to look after our children when we come to do treatment. What an awesome place Bali Bersama Bisa”

Mind Tuning Bali focuses on PSYCH-K, a neuroscience-based approach that utilizes brain dominance theory to shift subconscious beliefs. The sessions aim to create a “whole-brain” state that encourages lasting transformation.

The program is led by Linda, a certified PSYCH-K facilitator, and Dennis, who holds multiple advanced certifications. Their combined expertise gives the sessions a credible foundation, particularly for those looking to address trauma or phobias.

One limitation is that PSYCH-K isn’t part of mainstream psychotherapy. Clients needing psychiatric diagnoses or more clinical oversight may find this too alternative for their situation.

But accessibility is one of its stronger aspects, offering 90-minute private sessions in Seminyak as well as options via Zoom or phone. For deeper immersion, we appreciate their workshop training.

The real appeal comes from the transformations shared in client stories, like securing career breakthroughs. These accounts give the sessions a reset-like quality, with results that feel both tangible and personal.

Pros

  • Specializes in PSYCH-K
  • Experienced and certified facilitators
  • Wide applications
  • In-person Seminyak sessions or remote options
  • Offers workshops

Cons

  • Not a recognized clinical therapy

Feel seen, deeply cared for, and included

“I had the great fate to meet Dennis and Linda at a magical healing retreat in Bali, which they organized. Linda made me feel seen, deeply cared for and included while we worked on manifesting a more loving and peaceful life. She brings depth, playfulness and expertise to areas that could otherwise feel dark or heavy. Dennis personally oversaw my safety and security from arrival to departure. He is a gem! Thank you Dennis & Linda for allowing me to shine and inspiring me to take affirmative actions in creating the life I truly desire.”

Absolutely fast, permanent, and lasting

“I experienced not only the fascinating mind healing modality Psych-K, but also a wonderful, deep sensing and trustful facilitator Linda. She is very caring, brings the issue immediately to the point and helps you to navigate through your own subconscious to find the limiting beliefs. I tried and used so many modality’s before and I can honestly say, nothing helped me like Psych-K which is the key to me. It is absolutely fast, permanent and lasting. If you want to change your life and I really mean it, try it. This is the way (at least for me) Thank you for 7 transforming healing sessions, full of laughter, inspiration and love. ❤️”
