5 Studios for the Best Activities and Creative Workshops in Bali That Inspire Creativity
Between the rice fields, beaches, and cafés, Bali has a quiet way of waking up your creative side. I felt it myself. Somewhere between daily routines and endless screen time, that urge to make something with your hands began calling again.
That’s where activities and creative workshops in Bali come in. From pottery wheels to glassblowing studios, these workshops offer more than just a class. They give you space to slow down, experiment, and reconnect with creativity in a relaxed setting.
With so many studios scattered across the island, I’ve done the digging and rounded up workshops that are genuinely worth your time. These are places that combine skilled instructors and memorable hands-on experiences.
How much do creative workshops cost in Bali?
Creative workshops in Bali typically cost from IDR 300,000 to IDR 1,500,000 per session, depending on the craft, duration, and materials included. Many studios also offer multi-day courses or private workshops at higher rates for those looking to dive deeper.
1. Horizon Glassworks International

Address: Parking 1 Nuanu City, Jl Galiran, Bangar, Beraban, Kec. Kediri, Kabupaten Tabanan, 82121
Contact: +62 822-4765-2089
Operating Hours:
- Wednesday to Sunday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Monday & Tuesday: Closed
Led by talented glass artists Jeremiah Jacobs and Gage Stephens, Horizon Glassworks was founded in 2005. It is located in Nuanu’s creative district and serves as a working glassblowing space where classes, demonstrations, and production take place side by side.
Their glassblowing experience is 30 minutes per piece for every session. I appreciate that participants can choose from paperweights, glasses, and vases, among others. Not only that, but it also includes color options for customization.
Pricing is IDR 1.5 million per session, which is reasonable by Bali standards. It’s also a great opportunity for parents to introduce their kids to this type of activity, as the workshop is suitable for ages 9 and up. Even better, it’s designed for small groups of up to 6 people.
For the Glassblowing 101 Training Course, I have to admit it can be a little nerve-racking for first-timers—but that’s part of the fun. For around IDR 5.9 million (USD 350), participants get four weeks of hands-on learning with experienced specialists—and honestly, it feels totally worth it.
One thing to keep in mind is that sessions here fill up quickly, so booking ahead helps if you’re planning around travel dates.
I was blown away by my creations (with some much-needed guidance)
“This is something that has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember.
After some difficulties finding the workshop, mostly due to unhelpful security, I had the best experience with Jeremiah and his staff.
There was no rush to make decisions about what I wanted to create, choosing colours, and making the 5 flowers I made. I had no real expectations about the end result but I was blown away by my creations ( with some much needed guidance).
My flowers were delivered to my hotel a day or two after making them.
Jeremiah and his staff are fantastic, so much so that myself and a group of friends are planning on going back in a year.”

We got to take home our very own handcrafted pieces
“Family Core Memories at Its Finest!
We booked a family glassblowing workshop at Horizon Glassworks, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! As a family of four (two adults, two kids), we were guided by Gage, our incredible glassmaster, who made the entire process fun, exciting, and hands-on—especially for the kids. His warm and welcoming energy, combined with his deep passion for glass art, turned this into something far beyond a simple workshop.
From the first spark of molten glass to shaping our own masterpieces, every moment was filled with awe and creativity. Gage shared fascinating insights about glassblowing, making us appreciate this art form even more. We got to take home our very own handcrafted pieces—memories of a magical day.
For any family looking to create something truly special together, this is an experience not to be missed. Set in the stunning Nuanu City area, Horizon Glassworks is the perfect place to bond, learn, and make memories that last a lifetime. Highly, highly recommended!”

2. Bamboo Creative Bali

Address: Jalan Gunung Payung, Gg. Tunjung II Kelurahan No.5, Padangsambian Klod, Denpasar Barat, Badung Regency, 80117
Contact: +62 812 3790 6885
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: Open 24 hours
If you’re looking for an activity that feels meaningful rather than just entertaining, you should definitely try the Bamboo Creative Bali.
Notably, it was started by an Australian mother caring for her daughter with additional needs. You can clearly see how that personal story influences the place’s operations.
The hands-on bamboo sessions here are especially engaging. Participants learn practical skills, including basic carpentry and the use of bamboo in furniture and small-scale construction.
The 1-3 Day Bamboo Introduction & Group Programs are well attended, as they provide a solid introduction to the basics. Other workshops include the VIP Programs & Family & Kids Workshops and 3-12 Day Bamboo Carpentry & Build Programs & Kids Workshops.
I particularly love the flexibility, as there are three ways to join. You can donate (1-75 USD) to access the video training membership, purchase a 3-week program ticket by signing up for programs priced at around IDR 17 million, or avail of presale offers and memberships for stays and workshops.
The only minor downside? Staff may take some time to respond to emails, so planning is helpful, especially for those on a tight schedule when visiting Bali.
Every moment felt like a journey of discovery
“Bamboo Creative Bali was a transformative experience. The artisans’ passion for sustainable living was palpable. Learning and experimentation were encouraged, culminating in the unique opportunity to craft a mud floor. This workshop is a haven for creativity, fostering a sense of camaraderie and boundless inspiration. The dedication to sustainability was inspiring, resulting in stunning, eco-friendly creations. This experience left an indelible mark, opening my eyes to the beauty of natural materials.
What truly stood out was the emphasis on learning. The team not only guided us through the process but also encouraged us to push boundaries and think outside the box. The opportunity to create a mud floor was a highlight, an experience that not only connected us with the earth but also showed the limitless potential of natural materials.
Every moment felt like a journey of discovery. It was evident that Bamboo Creative Bali is not just a workshop, but a haven for those who crave creativity and are open to experimentation. The environment fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants, creating a space where ideas flowed freely and inspiration was boundless.
Thank you, Bamboo Creative Bali, for a truly remarkable journey. I can’t wait to return.”

This workshop magically gathered like-minded people together
“Such a great workshop, I felt happy that I participated. During the three weeks program, we learned from the local craftsmen, who are amazingly skillful, patient, and willing to share. We learned by really building something hands-on.
Beyond the knowledge and skill, this workshop magically gathered like-minded people together. I feel the founder Natalie has genuine care for the environment and the society, and this sincerity makes people around a community. (she’s also super fun btw)”

3. Paint and Sip Bali Art Workshop Studio

Address: Jl. Bisma No.85, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, 80571
Contact: +62 823 4101 5281
Operating Hours:
- Wednesday to Monday: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Tuesday: Closed
Paint & Sip is a creative space where you can learn arts and crafts. Guillermo, the creator, envisions a welcoming space where individuals can explore and develop their creativity.
The wide variety of art workshops can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but it’s definitely worth exploring. They offer glow-in-the-dark painting, a paint-and-sip picnic, and tote bag painting.
They even offer a “Create Your Own Incense Sticks” workshop using sacred-smoke incense. I also noted the mandala art stone program, which appears to be a relaxing way to explore patterns and color.
The only minor downside is that some of the sessions are quite short, so if you like to take your time crafting, you might feel a little rushed.
Nonetheless, I appreciate that updates and session reminders are sent via a group chat, which keeps things organized and makes it easy to join new workshops.
What’s interesting is that you can even bring their workshop to your own event through their candle bar. A friend hosted them at their wedding, and you can also host this workshop at corporate events or bachelorette parties.
It was super fun and also very informative
“I did the incense making workshop and it was absolutely outstanding!!! So different from anything I’d ever done. It was super fun and also very informative. We learned about the history of incense, how to make it, and I made my very first incense sticks and cones! Our teacher Meta was amazing, and it was great to share with the other students. If you are in Ubud, I would DEFINITELY do this workshop!!!”

The space felt welcoming and relaxed
“Paint & Sip Ubud was an absolute delight for the whole family! Our kids (ages 5, 9, and 11) had the best time they got their faces and hands painted, created colorful artwork, and were fully immersed in the fun. The vibe was so joyful, with bubbles floating through the air, great music playing, and delicious drinks for everyone. The space felt welcoming and relaxed it was clear that the staff genuinely loved what they were doing. Both kids and adults left smiling. Highly recommend for families visiting Ubud!
For reference: about $60 for all 5 of us (each of us bought a drink too). It was about 2 hours long. & There is a public bathroom to use.”

4. Five Art Studio

Address: Jl. Raya Keliki, Keliki, Kec. Tegallalang, Kabupaten Gianyar, 80561
Contact: +62 812 2540 9203
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Five Arts Studio, founded in 2008, is a standout in Ubud for its unique keliki-style painting, a traditional Balinese art form.
The studio also offers batik and wood-carving classes for around IDR 450,000. I like that this gives visitors multiple ways to explore Balinese creativity.
Other workshops include T-shirt painting and an egg painting workshop, both priced at IDR 450,000—affordable given the engagement participants receive. Even better, these workshops are also available for kids.
I also love that they sometimes offer discounts, and it’s super easy to check them on their website.
However, note that they only accommodate small class sizes. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage—it allows for one-on-one guidance, but also means that classes fill up quickly due to the studio’s popularity.
Set within a traditional Balinese architectural compound, the space is as much about culture as it is about art. Visitors leave with more than finished pieces; they walk away with a deeper understanding of Balinese traditions and artistic practices.
A really calming and mindful experience that we enjoyed immensely
“A really calming and mindful experience that we enjoyed immensely. The team at Five Arts Studio obviously love their job and have a passion for sharing their skills and do it in a very supportive manner with the aim of helping you produce the best possible art. We did the 3 hour Batik Class and were very happy with the batik we produced under their guidance. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone.”

We all created beautiful and satisfying batik pieces
“Our batik class took place in a charming courtyard filled with children’s laughter, creating such a lovely and peaceful atmosphere. Dika, our instructor, was incredibly professional—he provided detailed step-by-step guidance throughout, making it easy even for beginners. He even helped us take photos to capture the wonderful moments and generously shared his tips on coloring techniques. With his help, we all created beautiful and satisfying batik pieces that we could take home as unique souvenirs. Free water, cookies, coffee, and tea were also offered, which showed great attention to detail. This experience was both fun and relaxing, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bali!”

5. WS Art Studio

Address: C7X4+JFP, Lodtunduh, Ubud, Gianyar Regency, 80571
Contact: +62 813 3955 6696
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
I came across WS Art Studio while looking for something hands-on, and it exceeded my expectations.
The studio is run by Ayu, a local jewelry designer whose creativity is seen through all their workshops. This family-driven studio invites everyone to learn traditional Balinese crafts directly from skilled local artisans.
They offer a wide range of artistic workshops for beginners, adults, and children. One of the most popular options is the Silver Jewelry Workshop, where you can design and customize a piece, including 5 grams of silver.
For those drawn to sculpting, they offer mask- and wood-carving classes. They guide you through the raw materials to a finished piece in just a few hours, using traditional tools and methods.
I love how they include children in the fruit carving class. They let students learn how to transform fruits and vegetables into flowers or butterflies. It’s a fun way to bond and feel full afterwards.
One of the most popular offerings is their Batik Workshop. It teaches participants traditional wax-resist dyeing techniques known for Bali’s lively Hindu motifs.
However, some email responses can be slower than when you schedule via a direct phone call. If you want to guarantee a spot at one of the workshops, phone booking is the best option.
We walked away with one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry as souvenirs
“My husband surprised me with this activity. I made a pendant and my husband made a ring. They provided clear instructions so it was easy to follow. You have to come up with your own design which they need to approve so think about what you want to make ahead of time. The whole experience took approximately 2.5 hours and we walked away with one of a kind pieces of jewelry as souvenirs. Perfect as they don’t take up much space in our luggage. There is also a gift shop with their handmade creations. Overall a wonderful experience and would highly recommend.”

They were so welcoming and open to letting me fully design it myself
“I absolutely love this art studio! Although it’s not located right in the center of Ubud, that’s actually part of the charm, it’s incredibly peaceful, surrounded by rice fields, and the perfect place to relax and get creative. This was my second visit, and it was just as amazing as the first time two years ago. I made another silver ring, and as always, they were so welcoming and open to letting me fully design it myself. The ring I made on my first visit has held up beautifully. I’ve worn it almost every day for two years and it still looks as stunning as the day I made it. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Ubud. It’s a wonderful way to support local Balinese artisans while creating something meaningful and lasting 😌🫶💕”
