How much does it cost to dine in a romantic restaurant in Bali?

1. Apéritif Restaurant

Address: Br. Nagi, Jl. Lanyahan, Petulu, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar
Contact Details: +62 361 908 2 777
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM (Lunch), 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM (Dinner), 4:00 PM – late evening (Bar)
The 1920s velvet chairs and marble floors of Apéritif Restaurant create an intimate, glamorous setting.
They also took home three prestigious titles at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2024: Best Fine Dining Cuisine in Indonesia, Best Tasting Menu in Southern Asia, and Best Wine Selection in Asia.
Our award-winning experience began with welcome drinks and canapés at the Pinstripe Bar, then eased into their impressive 8-course tasting menu.
Their Venison Wellington was tender and buttery. The foie gras bonbon melted in our mouths, and the Chirashi Amuse-Bouche teased our senses with umami. We really love that each course blended global techniques with local Balinese ingredients.
Of course, that was top-notch service. The staff guided us through each course like narrators in a culinary story, and the wine pairings were thoughtfully matched and enhanced with every bite.
It wasn’t a quick dinner, though. We waited for almost 30 minutes for a walk-in. I recommend securing a reservation weeks in advance.
Ensures a magical, flavorful, and flawless service
“This restaurant offered an evening of pure magic. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was breathtaking, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. The chef’s creations were nothing short of artistry, each bite a symphony of flavors and textures, flawlessly executed. The impeccable service elevated the entire experience, making us feel truly pampered. If you’re seeking a truly special dining moment in Bali, this is it. Every detail, from the setting to the food, was simply perfect.”

Unforgettable food and warm staff
“What a great dinner and unforgettable experience at the restaurant! The restaurant was gorgeous. We sat by the bar, and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. All the staff at the restaurant are amazing. Chef Wily and Liebero were 10/10. Changga, Sundik, Jo, Bagas, and Ogik are the staff who made this experience even better (we had to write the names down since they were so lovely). I accidentally dropped my ring on the chair, and they went above and beyond to try to find it. I will definitely visit again!”

Swept Away is a place in Bali that truly embodies its name. Located beside the Ayung River at The Samaya Ubud, it feels like something out of a postcard—peaceful and surrounded by pure beauty.
We loved their signature Private 100-Candlelight Dinner the most. Our experience was relaxing, with the quiet sounds of the river.

3. Kubu at Mandapa – A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Address: Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve Jalan Kedewatan, Banjar Kedewatan, Ubud, Gianyar
Contact Details: +623614792777
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 5:30 PM – 11:00 PM
For couples who crave peace, privacy, and elegance, Kubu is the perfect spot. We had dinner in one of their nine signature bamboo cocoons along the Ayung River. Each cocoon is softly lit and like a peaceful bubble for two.
We enjoyed their 10-course tasting menu, the Kubu Experience. Every course felt special, and the flavors were bold and local. They also offer a vegetarian counterpart to the Kubu Experience called Root to Leaf.
One of the most memorable bites we had was the Ubud Garden Marigold. It’s a delicate mix of toasted coconut embryo and marigold vinegar emulsion. Who knew something often discarded could be this mouthwatering?
The staff gave us space to really appreciate it all, yet they were always ready when we needed them.
But with only nine cocoons, booking early is a must. And yes, it’s best to dress smart to match the ambiance.
A one-of-a-kind fine dining experience
“Kubu at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton reserve. What an experience! The food is sourced from 100km around the restaurant, and they are indicated on a map behind the menu for you to see! The freshest quality of food, the most unique combinations, and the service are equivalent to a Michelin-starred restaurant. All the dishes were meticulously staged and prepared with creative recipes that I would say have influences from all around the world. This experience was one of a kind and a worthy moment to experience for everyone. It is on the higher end of the budget, as each person is approximately 1,500,000 RP. A huge thanks to Samitr, who made our night even better by providing all the information for the dishes and taking care of us for everything we needed.”

Magical setting, amazing staff, and a perfect finale to our trip
“Kubu at Mandapa, located on the stunning Ritz-Carlton Reserve property in Ubud, was the perfect setting for our last night in Bali. The experience began with a scenic golf cart ride down to the restaurant, adding to the charm of the evening. Our group of six opted for the plant-based meal, and every dish was beautifully crafted and delicious. The staff was attentive and gracious, making the evening even more memorable. Highly recommend for a truly magical dining experience!”

We consider The Warung one of the most romantic places we’ve been. It’s located on a cliff, surrounded by tropical plants, and offers an overlooking view of the Indian Ocean. From the moment we arrived, it gave us a calm and intimate feeling.
And what’s even more convenient is that their website features a virtual tour so you can get a sneak peek of what the place looks like before booking.
We had a sumptuous dinner here to end our day. The highlight of our dining experience was their signature Rijsttafel (a traditional Indonesian rice table), which combines full-flavored and perfectly cooked foods like satay, beef rendang, and sambal.
Their service was both warm and attentive, and the staff carefully explained each dish.
Also, if you fall in love with a dish, you can ask the chef for a recipe card. They’ll hand it to you by the end of dinner so you can recreate the dishes at home.

Spicy surprise with a million-dollar view
“The view and atmosphere were breathtaking, food was delicious. It can get quite spicy, though, so be sure to ask what level of spiciness a dish is before ordering if you’re not used to that! I got served a glass of milk when they saw me struggling after trying a very hot topping a bit too confidently 😅 It’s definitely pricey, but well worth the experience if you can spend 40-50$ per person. Knowing you can get a very good meal for less than 5$ in Bali, this restaurant is next level, the ambiance, service, vie,w and food! Treat yourself 🤙”

Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, making the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Bali, Sardine is the place to go. Highly recommended!”

One of the best meals I’ve ever had!
“When we walked in, it was a great space setup more like a dance club, and once the food arrived, we realized its design. The dark space with a tiny spotlight on the table focused our attention on the food. And the dishes do deserve the attention. From our appetizer of ceviche, ending with passionate fruit souffle, everything was done to a very high standard. The ingredients were fresh, and the unique flavor and texture of each dish was heighten by the cooking method. Some restaurant would give you one of two memorable dishes, and everything else, while good, were fillers. At Sardine, every single dish was a homerun. I think I trust the chef so much that I’d order anything on the menu. Our server, Gary, was very attentive but did not loiter. His serve just made the whole experience perfect.”
