5 Best Ballet Class Centers in Bali for Graceful and Expert Training

Instructor Expertise and Training: I focused on studios led by experienced instructors, many of whom have formal training or professional dance backgrounds.

Class Variety and Levels: I looked for studios offering a range of classes (beginner to advanced), so anyone can join regardless of experience.

Studio Environment: I chose places with clean, well-equipped spaces. These include proper flooring, mirrors, and a comfortable atmosphere.

Teaching Style and Atmosphere: I considered businesses known for their supportive, encouraging instruction, which makes learning ballet enjoyable and accessible.

Reputation and Student Feedback: I reviewed testimonials and feedback from students to ensure each studio has a strong reputation for quality classes.

When people think about things to do in Bali, they often picture beach hopping, café crawling, or chasing waterfalls. But if you’re looking for something a little more refined and creative, ballet is quietly becoming a favorite on the island.

A while back, a friend convinced me to try a ballet class in the city. I wasn’t expecting much (and definitely wasn’t expecting sore muscles the next day), but I ended up loving the experience.

There’s something about practicing graceful movements, while surrounded by such a calming environment that makes it extra special.

From beginner-friendly studios to more advanced training spaces, they offer a surprisingly diverse ballet scene. So, here’s a curated list of the best places to take a ballet class in Bali based on my experiences and research.

How much does a ballet class in Bali cost?

A ballet class in Bali typically costs IDR 150,000 to IDR 500,000 per session, depending on the studio, the instructor’s experience, and your class level. Additional costs also depend on whether you take these classes in private or in groups.

When I wanted to explore ballet in Bali, I found Just Dance, and it immediately stood out. Opened in 2020, they have built six years of experience and now offer over 60 weekly classes. These also include 40 classes for kids aged 3 to 17 years old.

From the first class, the staff was welcoming and attentive. Instructor Whyll is a member of Bali’s iconic G.O.G. Crew and the 2016 SCTV Choreographer Award Winner. I love how he guided us with expertise and encouragement.

The ballet classes are structured yet fun, making it easy to improve technique while enjoying the process.

Just Dance also offers a variety of other dance styles, from hip-hop and jazz to K-pop and contemporary types. They also have Brazilian Circuit Training (BCT) with 21 classes weekly for fitness-focused dancers.

The only limitation I observed is that pricing for individual classes isn’t posted online. So you’ll need to contact them for details.

Pros

  • Wide variety of weekly classes
  • Skilled, award-winning instructors
  • Offers Brazilian Circuit Training

Cons

  • No posted rates for individual classes

The owners overall know how to manage and cater to the needs of their students

“Morgan is exceptional and creative on every spectrum on modern dance. She is professional, present in class and always comes up with interesting choreos that keep the kids of any age motivated. The main dance area is well designed, spacious, with good aircon, proper mirrors that do not change the actual body shape (something that is usual in other spaces in Bali ) and a well maintained wooden floor that is not dangerously slippery for the dancers.

The owners overall know how to manage and cater the needs of their students and their parents.”

Great air quality, nice equipment, and pleasant views

“Such a great, wonderful, and stunning Brazilian circuit fitness training session! An intense 60-minute focus on glutes, legs, abs, shoulders, arms, and chest.

The music, rhythm, dynamics, people, atmosphere, and the amazing coach that Beto Savoya is! This guy knows what he’s doing. After years in Bali enjoying fitness and wellness classes, I can say that this is one of my favorites so far! Even my boyfriend, who also enjoyed the class, asked me to get more involved in them.

Even in the middle of Canggu, in Berawa, the place is a gem. An extremely beautiful place with AC, great air quality, nice equipment, and pleasant views. Definitely one of the best!

I knew that I would regret not enjoying it before, and I did! Thank you, Roberto, for such an impressive session 🌟”

The studio offers private classes for all levels, scheduled based on teacher and studio availability. This is usually between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, when no regular classes are running.

Room rentals here start at IDR 200,000 per hour, making it an affordable option for personal practice or rehearsals.

Pre-ballet classes for ages 3 to 5 years old start at IDR 2,000,000 per term, and for 6 to 8 year-olds at IDR 2,100,000. Both are reasonably priced considering the quality of instruction they get.

The instructors are skilled and attentive, ensuring each student improves their technique while enjoying a supportive environment.

I love that the studio also accommodates flexible packages for students who can’t commit to weekly classes. This adds a layer of convenience for clients.

However, they don’t offer advanced performance or pointe programs, which may be important for students looking to progress to higher-level ballet training.

Pros

  • Affordable studio rental rates
  • Accessible ballet programs
  • Flexible packages for non-regular clients

Cons

  • No advanced performance
  • No pointe programs

The most talented, skilled, dedicated, and thoughtful ballet teacher

“Located in the bustling streets of Canggu. I  stumbled upon the most talented, skilled, dedicated and thoughtful ballet teacher Maria Sascha Khan.

As a sensitive person who’s never been into any sports, her class has been life changing in the best possible way.

Maria Sascha’s ballet class starts with a barre portion and then proceeds into floor work. This to me is really where her skills shine; by leading the class as a whole with a clear vision whilst attending to each individual’s needs  – really tell me any other job where you see this happening?

Her professionalism is unmatched. She has worked as a principal dancer across the world. (Yes, Google it. Its very impressive!) From pretending to dance in my grandparents living room as a child to now being able to attend class as an adult for fun. It’s such a gift to be in such close proximity to someone of this calibre.

Don’t be fooled by the soft pastels, this adult ballet class is not only physical but the mental is on par with a Rubix cube.

I also have to mention how lovely the barista on the first floor is and how well crafted the coffee is. Yumm

So if you enjoy a sports class that works out your body and mind and where you leave with iced latte in hand, sweat on the brow and a sense of accomplishment in your heart. You just found the gold standard Maria Sascha Khan at the Canggu studio.”

The atmosphere is motivating, warm, and inspiring

“An amazing school!

A wonderful place with incredible good vibes! The teachers are outstanding — highly professional, patient, always smiling, and incredibly supportive.

I take ballet classes with Maria, jazz with Stéphanie, and flexibility with Corinne — they are all truly lovely and help you make real progress, no matter your level.❤️

The atmosphere is motivating, warm, and inspiring.

A big thank you as well to the front desk team, who are always professional, welcoming, and helpful 🙏🙏🙏

I highly recommend this school without hesitation!”

What drew me to Drip Studio was its bold and empowering approach to dance. Known as a premier female-focused studio, it creates a space that encourages confidence and self-expression through movement.

They offer high-energy sessions for all levels, including ballet. This makes it easy to join, whether you’re a beginner or not.

The Femme Dance Camp, in collaboration with XO Movement, is also a standout. It’s one of the biggest dance camps in Southeast Asia, bringing in top international instructors to help refine techniques.

Their pricing is also quite accessible. An intro membership starts at IDR 500,000 for unlimited classes over 3 days, which is affordable. Packages begin at IDR 900,000 for 5 class credits, also reasonably priced for the variety offered.

The only limitation is that they don’t offer formal ballet certifications or examination programs.

  • A female-focused dance company
  • Hosts major dance camps
  • International instructors

The vibes were so supportive—everyone was cheering each other on

“I had such a wonderful experience at Drip Studio Bali! The class was empowering, fun, and welcoming. The instructor was incredibly skilled and made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident, no matter their level. The vibes were so supportive—everyone was cheering each other on! The studio itself was clean, aesthetic, and full of good energy. Definitely one of my favorite experiences in Bali, and I’ll 100% come back when I visit again. 💖✨”

An absolute blast—fun, empowering, and full of good vibes

“This dance studio in Bali is truly something special — a hidden gem with incredible energy. The moment you step in, you feel the positive vibes. The frontdesk girls are always smiling and welcome you in a very warm way. Dancers from all over the world come here together, bringing their own stories and styles, and somehow it all blends in perfectly. I took Heels and floorwork classes with Yasmeen (High Heels + Chair) and Shae (Floorwork), and I couldn’t be happier! And girls this is honestly the cleanest studio you have ever trained in! The floors are mopped after every single class! It´s so nice, especially for the floorwork classes!

Yasmeen’s highheels and chair classes were challenging in the best possible way and I had the absolute pleasure of learning from her. She has a deep passion for clean techniques, elegance in her movements and she pays close attention to every detail, which really helps you build a great foundation, especially as a beginner in highheels. She invites every student to find their own style and express themselves in their own way. Would love to have the chance to learn more from her..

Shae’s floorwork class was an absolute blast – fun, empowering, and full of good vibes and she has a great music taste. There’s a strong sense of connection and joy in every of her classes and she is an amazing person. All in I’ll definitely be coming back for more! 🙂 If you’re ever in Bali and love dancing this studio is a must!”

If you’re looking for a dance studio with a more cultural and social vibe, Ubud Studio is definitely worth checking out.

What makes them stand out is their diverse lineup of dance styles, from ballet to Bachata, Kizomba, and Brazilian Zouk. They even offer traditional Balinese dance.

I liked how inclusive the environment felt. They offer Afro-Latin and partner dance classes for all levels. So whether you’re starting or want to try something new, it’s easy to find your place.

You can also get their trial class, which is a great way to explore different styles before committing.

The studio is led by Agung, founder of the Ubud Afro-Latin Dance Community. With over 15 years of dance experience and a decade of teaching international students, he was recognized as Bali’s only certified Bachata Sensual Instructor.

My only gripe? There aren’t any clear pricing details for their services on the website. Without published prices, it’s hard to compare options upfront.

Pros

  • Diverse range of dance styles
  • Trial classes available
  • Highly experienced and certified teachers

Cons

  • Pricing details are not posted

It’s more than community, it’s family

“I took a 20 classes card and finally I took more classes than that for 3 weeks. The teachers are amazing and the studio’s offers are really huge. All the team is fantastic, it’s more than community, it’s family. There’s social party and BBQ planned every month. Futhermore, you can join the social party in Ubud in almost every evening to practice. Personally speaking, I felt really comfortable to know and hang up with people from the studio.

If you want to learn and have fun at the same time, this is THE place.

I miss you guys!”

The whole community makes you feel so welcome from the very first class

“I absolutely love Ubud Studio! 💃 The classes are amazing and the teachers are so talented, supportive, and passionate. The atmosphere is always full of energy and fun, and the whole community makes you feel so welcome from the very first class. It’s such a great place not only to learn and improve, but also to connect with wonderful people. Highly recommend to anyone looking for dance, joy, and a place to belong! 🩷”

The last studio I came across was The Key Creative Space. What stood out was its long-standing presence in Bali’s dance scene.

With years of experience, they have built a reputation for offering structured ballet classes alongside other dance programs.

One of the highlights is instructor Cryst, whose achievements add credibility to the studio’s training. He was awarded Best Skilled Individual at the Let’s Dance Competition and later became the champion at the Absolute Dance Volume 4: Solo Performance.

Their membership is also quite affordable at IDR 100,000. This includes a member’s card, one free class, and a 10% discount at ETU Coffee.

Members can even bring a friend and get IDR 50,000 off classes, which is a nice bonus. Beyond ballet, they also offer K-pop, hip-hop, afro, and more.

The only shortcoming is that they don’t have an official website. So it may take extra effort to find updated schedules or program details.

Pros

  • Skilled and award-winning teachers
  • Affordable membership packages
  • Offers referral discounts for members

Cons

  • No official website
