Yoga Teacher Trainings in Bali: Top 6 Immersive Certifications

  • We examined the educational framework of each program to ensure they cover anatomy, philosophy, and alignment comprehensively. It is essential that graduates leave with a robust understanding of both the physical and spiritual aspects of the practice.
  • Every school on this list was verified for its current standing with the Yoga Alliance (YA). This guarantees that your teaching certificate will be recognized internationally so you can launch your career anywhere.
  • We prioritized programs that intentionally cap their student enrollment to maintain an intimate learning environment. Smaller groups mean you receive highly personalized mentorship and direct feedback on your teaching techniques.
  • The physical environment plays a huge role in an immersive certification, so we evaluated the quality of the shalas and on-site amenities. We looked for tranquil, supportive spaces that allow students to focus entirely on their personal transformation.

Deciding to become a certified instructor is a massive leap, and choosing the right environment is everything.

If you’re an aspiring teacher or a dedicated practitioner ready to deepen your practice, finding the best yoga teacher trainings in Bali can be a transformative step.

I remember how overwhelming it felt to sift through endless ashrams and beachfront programs when looking for a globally recognized, Yoga Alliance-approved certification.

To help you navigate the noise, I’ve narrowed down the top immersive schools that offer truly life-changing educational experiences!

They seamlessly integrate traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa with modern Rocket Yoga, giving you a remarkably strong foundation to build your career.

When I visited a close friend during her 200-hour intensive here last year, I saw firsthand how the intimate setting accelerated everyone’s confidence on the mat.

The studio positions itself as one of the most authentic places in Bali for learning yoga in its classical form, combining philosophy, practice, and meditation.

Their Yoga Teacher Training in Bali is designed to help students go beyond physical practice and understand yoga as a complete lifestyle system. The 200-hour and 300-hour programs both focus heavily on traditional Hatha Yoga teachings, rooted in classical yogic texts and disciplines.

Just finished the YTT and sound healing course two weeks ago! I feel pretty lucky I picked Sky and I totally recommend it to anyone who really wants to learn real yoga (it’s not just about asanas) 😊.

I did another YTT five years ago at a different school in Bali, but at Sky, I learned way more. Now I feel confident enough to teach! 😇 Big thanks to all the teachers, the awesome vibe, tasty food, and cool people that made the course so great 💯.

Also, Simon’s amazing menu and the little library were definitely my favorites!

I have completed my 200 hours yoga and meditation course with Sky Yoga and Meditation and I cannot express how wonderful the experience was! Simon has an amazing team working with him, they create incredible atmosphere.

The theory classes exceeded all my expectations in the best way possible, you will learn A LOT (i recommend looking up Patanjali to get in Simon’s good books 😉 )

The all inclusive package for the course means you never have to worry about meal plans – they accommodate vegan diet GREAT apart from a couple of dishes that had milk in them – I was informed beforehand and an alternative was easily available.

Overall I cannot recommend this yoga school enough, it’s not just about the exercise, you will learn the philosophy behind it.

You’ll find their curriculum heavily rooted in the Shri Vidya lineage, so you’ll receive authentic guidance from highly experienced faculty. With their training process, students can master deep spiritual teachings alongside physical alignment in under four weeks.

It’s also worth highlighting that the retreat is situated directly across from a sacred water temple in Ubud. This environment is highly focused and tranquil, which is fantastic for personal growth.

However, absolute beginners might find their strict prerequisites challenging, as they require at least two years of dedicated prior practice to apply.

This rigorous standard ultimately protects the integrity of the course, ensuring everyone in the room is ready for advanced self-inquiry.

Pros

  • Internationally recognized YA certification
  • Highly experienced faculty with legal working status
  • Luxury villa accommodations at accessible price points
  • Comprehensive curriculum focused on meditation and Sanskrit

Cons

  • Requires a minimum of two years of prior practice
  • Listed tuition excludes mandatory tax and service fees

Loved the YTT – so much more than I expected. The spiritual aspects and personal growth combined with learning to meditate were life changing. This was in addition to excellent yoga practice, teachings and material. You will not find better. We travelled from Namibia to do the course and felt blessed to have found such a special place and wonderful teachers.

Lily, Ramananda and the entire Blooming Lotus Sangha have transformed my life entirely. I couldn’t recommend these teachers or training higher. Give yourself the gift of relaxation and opening to your divine truth and book a retreat or YTT. I’ve also completed the online course for Yoga Nidra which helped me tremendously during the pandemic and is something I incorporate with my patients and during yoga classes as well as my self-care!

By capping their groups at a strict maximum of 18 students, Inner Yoga Training Bali guarantees close mentorship. Their curriculum avoids a cookie-cutter approach, which is vital for teaching safely across diverse populations.

During my own search for restorative wellness retreats, I spoke extensively with one of their lead TCM  instructors and was blown away by their subject-specific expertise.

Instead of relying on a single guru for every topic, they employ dedicated specialists for anatomy, philosophy, and physical practice. Their anatomy focus is even based on individual skeletal variations.

You should note that they enforce a strict cancellation policy with a non-refundable deposit, requiring firm commitment before booking your flights.

On the bright side, their all-inclusive packages remove the stress of international travel by covering meals, materials, and airport transfers.

  • Subject-matter experts teaching specialized modules

Inner Yoga training was absolutely incredible! I loved every moment. The whole team was amazing, they were so knowledgable and great teachers. I learnt so so much.

Azadi Retreat was beautiful and and the staff were so friendly. The food was delicious and different every day.

It was a life changing experience, I made so many life long friends and have grown so much as a person.

I will cherish the memories of this course forever!

I am so happy I chose Inner Yoga Teacher Training! This place is truly special, right next to the beautiful rice fields. The peaceful surroundings make it easy to connect with myself and nature. The classes are fun and engaging, and the teachers as Rohit and Maya are skilled and supportive. 🙂

This training has been a wonderful journey for my soul, and I’ve learned so much about myself. I highly recommend Inner Yoga to anyone wanting to deepen their practice and become a yoga teacher. It’s been an amazing experience, and I’m grateful to be part of this community!

Bringing the authentic spiritual depth of Rishikesh directly to the tropics, Bali Yoga Ashram offers a specialized curriculum that perfectly balances dynamic Vinyasa flow with slow, meditative Yin practices daily.

The faculty boasts highly academic instructors holding advanced degrees in Yoga Sciences, providing a rigorously scientific foundation alongside traditional ashram teachings.

Unlike modern, fitness-oriented yoga studios found in the busier hubs, this school is tucked away in a quiet Ubud resort surrounded by rice fields.

This tranquil setting helps students maintain intense focus during their month-long immersion.

It’s also worth highlighting that they offer a flexible pathway allowing participants to split their 200-hour certification into two manageable 100-hour chapters over a year.

A notable downside is that some of the resort accommodations feel slightly dated, which might disappoint those expecting a pristine luxury environment.

Pros

  • Dual-style daily curriculum balancing Yin and Vinyasa
  • Instruction from faculty with advanced academic degrees
  • Flexible chapter options to split training over time
  • Comprehensive amenities including weekend excursions

Cons

  • Resort facilities and rooms show signs of aging

Such a life changing experience!

I just completed my 300-hour YTT at Bali Yoga Ashram, and it was truly unforgettable.

The teachers,  Ram, Emi, Justina, and Azmi 🤍are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and teach straight from the heart. Each of them has left a special place in mine 🫶🏻

The staff are also super kind and helpful, making the whole experience even more beautiful.

If you’re looking for a deep, authentic, and transformative yoga journey, I totally recommend this place!

I had the most wonderful time during my 200h Yoga Teacher Training. It was difficult to pick a course, so many things to consider, but this one was the perfect one for me! It had everything I needed and went even beyond what I expected, in terms of teaching quality, the program, the experience, community and fun! Could not recommend this more! Definitely life changing! Will always be grateful to Ram, Emi, Justyna and Azmi!

As for their approach, it strips away the fluff, giving you the real-world skills and confidence needed to guide diverse bodies safely.

The entire program takes place in a stunning, open-air shala deep within the lush Ubud jungle, offering a serene backdrop for intense study. You’ll spend a significant portion of your time engaged in actual teaching practicums rather than just passively taking notes.

Do note that their rigorous, hands-on schedule is demanding. You won’t have free time for sightseeing during the immersion.

Additionally, this high level of individualized mentorship comes at a premium tuition price compared to budget-friendly alternatives on the island.

Pros

  • Intimate class sizes capped at 15 students
  • Heavy curriculum emphasis on functional biomechanics
  • Extensive real-world teaching practicums
  • Tranquil open-air learning environment in nature

Cons

  • Premium tuition rates compared to local competitors
  • Highly demanding daily schedule limits free time

Came across SOY on a quick chatGPT search and signed up not thinking much about it. SOY is a small school unlike some of the big prominent yoga schools in Bali. But the experience I had here is unlike any other. The smaller group classes allowed us to explore the topics we learned further beyond the textbook, there is space for us to bring our own perspectives to the content. besides yoga alignment/philosophy/anatomy etc. I think the most valuable thing I learned was I learned a lot about myself. Highly recommend this experience.

It’s been a week since I completed YTTC at Shades Of Yoga. The three weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions—surreal, vulnerable, and absolutely incredible. Completing my yoga teacher training has been an enlightening experience in ways I never imagined. Grateful for the support, wisdom, and friendships made along the way.

PS: thank you to Tracy who got my enrolled for the course very last minute! Also, Helen&Annabel you are a fantastic duo ☯️
